On INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY the entire nursing fraternity of the world pay respect to Florence Nightingale, an English nurse, a social reformer and a statistician who founded the key pillars of modern nursing.
This day is to thank all nurses, their dedication, and work, especially during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.Nurses play an essential role in our medical institutions such as giving safety or help in the recovery of patients etc. No doubt when a patient is in need of care then nurses work tirelessly to identify and protect the needs of the individual.
Nurses also have immense knowledge and have several skills that they spend in an organisation for perfection and development. Most of the time nurses work in tough environments where extreme stress is a part of their job.
OUR COVID WARRIORS WHO LEFT US.
Let’s remember Ambika PK who became the first nursing staff in the capital to lose her life to COVID-19. The 46-year-old had been admitted on 21 May due to difficulty in breathing. Ambika’s colleagues have alleged that nurses were being asked to reuse PPE including masks and gloves, while doctors were given fresh ones.
Samantha’s death is a heartbreaking consequence of the seriousness of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a life-long learner and community-minded caregiver, Samantha’s husband and four children say she wanted to make a difference. They believe she would want her death not to be in vain, but to serve as a stark reminder that people must do whatever they can to protect themselves and others and take this pandemic seriously.
As nurses continue to fight their battles worldwide.Tamil Nadu continues to battle the Covid-19 surge, a pregnant doctor and two nurses became the latest casualties of the virus
Shanmugapriya, a 32-year-old doctor was working at the Anupanady Government Primary Healthcare Centre was eight months pregnant and was treating Covid-19 patients.
Being pregnant, Shanmugapriya couldn’t take the Covid-19 vaccine. Ten days ago, Shanmugapriya was admitted to the Madurai Government Hospital with Covid-19 and was undergoing treatment.
On Sunday morning, Shanmugapriya succumbed to the infection. Doctors were also unable to save her baby.
52-year-old Prema of Rajiva Gandhi Nagar in Vellore caught the fever while she was working as a nurse at the Vellore Government Hospital. Prema was admitted to the same hospital where she had been working for 25 years. She tested positive for Covid-19 on April 26.
As her health deteriorated, Prema was given oxygen support and was also put on ventilator support. But she passed away on May 9.
Recognize nurses everywhere. Celebrate their dedication and commitment to their patients and their profession. Tell someone about the excellent care you’ve received from a nurse.Give nurses you know a shout out and thank them for their hard work, especially during these challenging times of COVID pandemic.
Human driven ecological degradation continues to be a major problem around the world. Air pollution kills an estimated seven million people worldwide every year. Here I’ll talk about various pollutants, the ongoing pandemic and what role trees play in our life.
Different conditions are responsible for indoor air pollution in the rural areas and the urban areas.
Rural areas face the greatest threat from indoor pollution, where people rely on traditional fuels such as firewood, charcoal and cowdung for cooking. Burning such fuels produce large amount of smoke and other pollutants.Women and children are most vulnerable as they spend more time indoor.
Urban areas have an increased exposure to Pollutants such as 1. Tobacco : smoke generates a wide range of harmful chemicals and is carcinogenic. It results in burning of eyes ,nose and throat irritation, severe asthma and decreased lung functioning. 2. Formaldehyde: mainly from carpets ,particle boards and insulation foam. It causes irritation to eyes and nose and allergies. 3. Radon : it is emitted naturally by soil.Due to poor ventilation in modern houses ,it is confined inside the house and causes lung cancers.
As India struggles with Covid-19, the disease has exposed weakened immunities and failing facilities. It has left us gasping, literally, for oxygen. A recent report states that air pollution is causing a rapid increase in the death rate due to COVID-19. And, that is why there is an urgent need for cleaner air which we can get from plants and trees.
Too much exposure to air pollution affects your health and immunity, making you susceptible to infections and diseases. It severely affects the vulnerable group of people including children, pregnant women, and elderly raising their risk of getting COVID-19. It has also been found that if you are already affected by COVID-19 virus, your chances to die from the disease increases if you are exposed to excessive air pollution. Air pollutants can exacerbate the preexisting conditions raising your possibility of suffering from its lethal complications.
Imposing lockdown can not only help contain the virus but prevent an increasing number of deaths due to COVID-19. Another way to slow down the pollution level is by planting more and more trees. Keep your surroundings green so that you remain safe and away from COVID-19.
Trees are an important part of our world. Trees improve air quality by acting as natural air filters removing dust, smoke and fumes from the atmosphere by trapping them on their leaves, branches and trunks.
Trees reduce the GREENHOUSE effect by removing carbon dioxide from the air and releasing oxygen. Each year a mature tree produces enough oxygen for 10 people.
Trees are also an effective sound barrier and can limit noise pollution. Recent research shows that trees also help reduce the stress of modern life.
Trees in themselves benefit the environment and the landscape, but they are also an integral part of the ecosystem providing benefits to wildlife and biodiversity. They help to keep our air clean and our ecosystem healthy. We breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide.Trees breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen. We’re family and we must live like a family. We can never have enough nature .I swear to you ,there are divine things more beautiful than my words can tell.
LET’S PLANT MORE TREES AND PLANT HOPE FOR THE FUTURE GENERATION.
One day dowry came With a lot of blame Cause i didn’t liked things So my heart pinged
My wife is my dowry And I love her as Lowry Mom and dad don’t even think That I love these costly things
Dowry is just an illusion That gets everyone in confusion Dowry is a bad word With alot of godly curse
To the people who put pressure U are going to get crushed in a thresher To the people who torture U will be hit by a scorcher
Dowry dowry just teach humans a lesson That you must not work like a caisson D…..donkeys O…..of the first order W….who cannot withstand on their own feet R…..rely on their wife’s riches Y……yet shameless
Be a man not a beggar to ask dowry.
Why is the dowry system still a threatening reality? Why do we value a woman’s life around the amount of gold she brings in dowry? Questions like these need to be raised again and again.
Taking or giving dowry has been criminalized by law. But, it is still a significant part of Indian marriage and is openly defying laws and failing women empowerment.
The brutal reality of the dowry system is not the story of rural areas only. Even the educated family sitting in metropolitan cities like Delhi and Bangalore is harassing a woman for not bringing enough gold or money.Sometimes I even hear about cases of IAS officers which is heartbreaking .
“Any young man, who makes dowry a condition to marriage, discredits his education and his country and dishonours womanhood.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Dowry system makes it necessary for a bride’s family to give dowry in cash or kind to the groom’s family as a pre-condition for marriage. After marriage, some families demand more dowry and when it is not fulfilled- either because of the inability of the bride’s family or the denial of the bride herself, the groom and his family abuse and kill the bride. In one of the cases reported in Bengaluru in January 2020, a few weeks after marriage, a husband demanded cash despite receiving 1kg gold in dowry as per his demands. When the extra demand was denied, he burnt his wife.
According to my views you have your whole life ahead of you. Be smart, Study hard and be independent. You must rely on yourself. No matter what else people may steal from you, they will never be able to take away your knowledge. The world is changing. You must make your own life outside this home.
Why The Dowry System Is Still Prevalent?
We are in 2020. Dowry system was abolished in 1961 in India. The reason for the prevalence of this custom is the patriarchal society that values men over women. In India boys have a rate card in many societies. This is the unofficial price the boy is worth. And that worth is measured by the amount of dowry a boy will get upon marriage. The stronghold of the gender inequality in Indian society makes a bride’s family feel obliged to meet the dowry demands of the man who has ‘agreed’ to take care of the daughter. The second major reason is that the dowry system is too deeply rooted in the Indian culture that it is seen as normal and unchangeable.
Even today, if people are reminded that dowry is a crime, they ignore it as an alternate reality which cannot change the age-old customs. Many educated families practice it, willingly or unwillingly, to avoid being criticized for not following the customs. After all who will dare to change the traditions? The third and most important reason is the dominance of the institution of marriage. A woman’s marriage is of the paramount importance in Indian families. If a woman’s marriage requires dowry in return of her secured married life which is a challenge in the world that is unsafe and discriminatory for women, it is never seen as a crime.
Dowry deaths are a result of this stagnancy in the traditions and cultures. Groom’s families take advantage of the stronghold of the dowry system which will ultimately bring them wealth. Often they ‘rightfully’ abandon or abuse the woman for dowry because she and her family did not fulfil their duty. This is a harsh reality that still haunts the lives of the women who are moving ahead towards a respectable, empowered and independent future. This system is the major reason why daughters are considered as a burden for the families. Consequently, families either keep the wealth aside for the daughter’s dowry rather than investing in her education or kill her before birth to get rid of the burden forever.Only our thinking can save these precious lives and bring about a major change in this world full of dowry demanding creatures.
How Young Women can Bring A Change?
Girls must understand that a marriage grounded on the exchange of dowry is only a business deal. She must believe that marriage only needs love and respect. If a boy cannot marry her without her money, he doesn’t deserve her.She is more capable to excel in her life with her own capabilities. She should convince her family to not seek dowry for her brother’s marriage. They should tell them not to seek dowry because they don’t need money to keep someone else’s girl. If the boy considers her as his another half then dowry is almost negligible in front of that.
Girls must bring a change in the prevalence of the dowry system by being self-dependent and refusing to marry anyone who needs money to marry them.
यत्र नार्यस्तु पूज्यन्ते रमन्ते तत्र देवताः । यत्रैतास्तु न पूज्यन्ते सर्वास्तत्राफलाः क्रियाः ॥ Which means -The divine are extremely happy where women are respected ;where they are not, all actions are fruitless.
Dowry system gets an open passage in the society despite being a crime because no one dares to take legal action against the families. There is a need of organizing more workshops and discussions on this issue so that its seriousness is realized.
According to recent reports on an average, every hour a woman succumbs to dowry deaths in India. No matter how many qualifications a woman earns, her identity and the right to live is decided according to the kilograms of gold, cash, luxury cars and appliances she brings in dowry for her in-laws.I don’t know why people show off something that is not even their’s in weddings. If you are reading this article and consider my views right enough, kindly share it widely so we can push for conversations that question this and helps us all change the system. It’s going change if we all stand together.
I request you all to share your views on this serious issue and suggest possible ways to eradicate this evil system from our society.
POETRY IS GOOD FOR SOUL BUT SOMETIMES ITS HARD TO CONTROL
IF YOU BREAK A POET’S HEART
HE’LL EXPRESS YOU WITH HIS ART
HE’LL DESCRIBE YOU IN WORDS
WORDS THAT WOULD SEEM LIKE BLEEDING BIRDS
FLYING FROM HIS SOUL AND LANDING ON HIS WRITING PAD
This world is amazing The world that doesn’t move according to man The world that moves with time Where time doesn’t really wait for anybody And things go wrong with time But no one’s time remains the same always Your time changes with your hardwork Nothing is truly constant in life And everything does change for sure One doesn’t always remains on top Cz fall is sure if there is rise Just believe that You are strong and you are bold You may not have your say or told This world doesn’t have any doors There are only windows Through which we can peep And try to understand what’s going so deep This world ends to me every night After a day long hectic fight And begins again every morning With that bright sunlight
1.Is opening liquor shops a wise decision made by the government? 2.Don’t you people feel that this was the right time to diverge Alcoholic minds to a right path by banning Liquor shops? 3.Do you think that drinking excessive alcohol can save you? 4.Don’t you think that instead of opening liquor shops government should have given orders to open Gyms ?
Alcohol shops across States began opening their shutters from May 4 after the easing of India’s COVID-19 lockdown. Serpentine queues marked the reopening of liquor vending outlets.
Wearing of masks was made mandatory to line up at the outlets. But COVID-19 safety protocols like physical distancing and the wearing of masks were thrown to the wind.
Protests were held in several places against the reopening of liquor outlets.
Alcohol’s impact on your body starts from the moment you take your first sip. While an occasional glass of wine with dinner isn’t a cause for concern, the cumulative effects of drinking wine, beer, or spirits can take its toll.
A glass a day may do little damage to your overall health. But if the habit grows or if you find yourself having a hard time stopping after just one glass, the cumulative effects can add up.
How Alcohol affects Sugar levels in our body?
As we know that Covid 19 is grabbing people who already are suffering from deadly diseases and so is with the diabetic people. The pancreas helps regulate your body’s insulin use and response to glucose. When your pancreas and liver aren’t functioning properly, you run the risk of experiencing low blood sugar. A damaged pancreas may also prevent the body from producing enough insulin to utilize sugar. This can lead too much sugar in the blood. And further can lead to other deadly diseases such as COVID-19 presently.
If your body can’t manage and balance your blood sugar levels, you may experience greater complications and side effects related to diabetes. It’s important for people with diabetes or hypoglycemia to avoid alcohal at any cost.If ever they feel like drinking they can have a very small amount of Red wine.
COVID 19##Immune system##ALCOHAL
To fight COVID 19 we need a strong immune system but do you know that drinking heavily reduces your body’s natural immune system. This makes it more difficult for your body to fight off invading germs and viruses such as COVID-19.
People who drink heavily over a long period of time are also more likely to develop pneumonia and tuberculosis than the general population. About 10 percent of all tuberculosis cases worldwide can be tied to alcohol consumption. Drinking alcohol also increases your risk for several types of cancer, including mouth, breast, and colon.
From the above two paragraphs you can easily conclude that how bad is alcohal for you and how badly it can effect you.Government will never ever help you with anything if something bad happens to you or to your family members. They are just to here to dupe people of their hard earned money weather it is done by Opening liquor shops during Lockdown or by supplying Liquor during voting Campaigns. We are the people who suffer. If liquor shops were opened why are Gyms still closed?Government must promote physical exercise and let people open their Gyms. They must promote cycling too and if possible, only cycles must be allowed within the cities. This will help people of our country to stay fit and will help to heal mother earth.
Biological weapons are microorganisms like virus, bacteria, fungi, or other toxins that are produced and released deliberately to cause disease and death in humans, animals or plants.
Biological agents, like anthrax, botulinum toxin and plague can pose a difficult public health challenge causing large numbers of deaths in a short amount of time while being difficult to contain. Bioterrorism attacks could also result in an epidemic, for example if Ebola or Lassa viruses were used as the biological agents.
Biological weapons is a subset of a larger class of weapons referred to as weapons of mass destruction, which also includes chemical, nuclear and radiological weapons. The use of biological agents is a serious problem, and the risk of using these agents in a bioterrorist attack is increasing
The novel coronavirus outbreak in 2019-2020 with nickname Covid-19 is a new strain of viruses which can cause fever, cough, breathing difficulties, pneumonia and even death in humans. To my notions it’s a kind of biological weapon which was used by a country for their own benefit.
The new coronavirus – Covid-19 – was first identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019. News reports say Wei Guixian was selling shrimp at the Huanan Seafood Market when she developed what she thought was a cold last DecemberWuhan Municipal Health Commission has confirmed that Wei was among the first 27 people to test positive for the coronavirus. The global outbreak of Covid-19 is still ongoing. The novel Coronavirus has affected more than 722087 people all over the world and has resulted in more than 33975 deaths.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the coronavirus outbreak 2019–20 a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) initially, and later declared it as a pandemic.
Coronaviruses belong to a family of viruses called Coronaviridae and order Nidovirales. Coronaviruses get their name from their crown-like shape.
They are found in animals and birds and are zoonotic – as they are transmitted between animals and people.
Some types of coronavirus are dangerous for humans and result in severe diseases such as respiratory syndromes (MERS – Middle East Respiratory Syndrome and SARS – Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome).
Coronavirus disease 2019 is an infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), a virus closely related to the SARS virus.
The 2019-nCov has been given the official name as COVID-19.
WHO declared Covid-19 infections as a public health emergency of international concern and later called it a pandemic.
Though the novel coronavirus is highly infectious and spreads rapidly, the death rate is low – only about 3.7%.
However, because of the possibility of a global-scale infection, all possible steps should be taken to prevent the fast spreading of the outbreak. Most people recover from the Covid-19 infection within 28 days, when proper supportive care is given.
Origin and TransmissionCoronaviruses originate in animals like camels and bats and are zoonotic diseases as it passes from animals to humans occasionally.
The source of a zoonotic disease is called reservoir species. (For SARS, the reservoir species was identified as bats).
The first known case of COVID-19 was reported in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and was traced to an animal market in the city.
Research is ongoing on how COVID-19 spreads. However, as per WHO, the disease spreads in humans via exposure to respiratory secretions – the small droplets from the nose or mouth of an infected person – either directly or indirectly.
Compared to earlier outbreaks of SARS and MERS, COVID-19 has a greater global spread and researchers think that mutation in the virus strain is enabling it to be more efficiently transmitted.
Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face.
The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette .
Wash your hands frequently
Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.
Maintain social distancing
Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.
Stay at home if you begin to feel unwell, even with mild symptoms such as headache and slight runny nose, until you recover. Why? Avoiding contact with others and visits to medical facilities will allow these facilities to operate more effectively and help protect you and others from possible COVID-19 and other viruses. If you develop fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical advice promptly as this may be due to a respiratory infection or other serious condition. Call in advance and tell your provider of any recent travel or contact with travelers. Why? Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also help to prevent possible spread of COVID-19 and other viruses.
India is even known for its sobriquet male-chauvinistic nation.Women are the companion of man, gifted with equal mental capabilities. She has the right to participate in every minute detail of activities of man and she has an equal right of freedom and liberty with him.She is entitled to a supreme place in her own sphere of activity as men is in his.The Constitution of India ensures a place of dignity and honour for all women.
It’s ‘Bharat Maata’ who is inturn a woman that serves as the mother of every Indian. While such a woman looks after every Indian child, women in general are simply being disregarded at the dominant men’s best. Men ought not to forget the fact that ‘men’ are in ‘WOmen’. Women are no less than men in India in any sector. Women are not what they really were. Some decades ago, women were limited to the kitchen.Women in the past used to be just an object to live within the walls of the houses. She used to be illiterate and was involved only in cooking and washing works of the house..Infact she didn’t get a good treatment from her male counterpart.
Today, Indian women have made their presence felt virtually in every field. Women have ultimately come out of their ‘saree’ image and entrap the nation by dint of their hardwork and power. Women Empowerment is infact the ability of women to exercise full control over one’s actions.
Empowerment of women in India is conspicuous by many live examples. But, is that all? Are only those women empowered? If not, how about rest of the Indian-women world? Are the common women vested with powers to drive the nation? These above questions, if posed to our so called leaders, would simply be parried. Women have become marionettes in the hands of them.
The ability of a woman to break the barriers and tread on a new path was proved by women.People usually get carried by the myth that men can do far better than women. Indian women dispelled the myth by making their footprints in almost every field of work.A woman Defence Minister is one of the biggest signs of women empowerment in any country and Nirmala Sitharaman was one such example. Now she is an Indian politician serving as the current Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of India. She is a member of the Rajya Sabha, upper house of the Indian Parliament, since 2014.
Women are not only law-makers and law-controllers, but also Business magnates.Kiren Mazumdar Shaw is one of the richest and popular self-made business women, she says she became an entrepreneur by accident as she never aspired to start a business. Creating a biopharmaceutical company called Bicon in 1978, she has managed to make it one of the leaders in manufacturing a wide range of drugs.
Women have the inherent potential to overlook any impediments, to commit themselves to their ambitions and eventually drive the nation by fulfilling them. The real empowerment is attained only when they are wise-enough and highly-powered to make decisions and women, when authoritative, would turn into economic carriers of India.
Gender equality plays a crucial role in uplifting women. Rather, gender inequality certainly needs to be abolished. Gender-based discrimination and disparity are evident from various dowry cases and sexual harassment incidents. The idea of equal employment opportunities is still lingering unimplemented in several remote areas. Women in some inaccessible areas are yet confined to their household routines while their spouses go for work.
Government should open its doors for women to be given opportunities to prove themselves on a par with the men.
A blessing in disguise’ seems to justify the women empowerment in India. Although women are brought up by themselves to the top-notch position, some miscellaneous factors clampdown on them. Top brass officials politicise things and it’s ultimately women who become victims which lead to their resignation or stall of activities being carried out by them. Drearily, sometimes it might even result in suicides. Sexual harassment is one of the horrendous factors that suppresses women.
Rape is a heinous crime that government needs to tackle to ensure women empowerment. Hardly a day passes without a case of rape being reported in Indian newspapers and media. Welfare of women is the foremost thing that government must lay an emphasis on.
Women empowerment can be achieved chiefly through Health and Education. “Health is Wealth”. Basic sanitation facilities, adequate medical camps, government health schemes would be conducive to bring about a major change. The female literacy rate has also increased . Enrolment of girls in schools makes a huge difference in transforming the nation.
Women are no less than outstanding, be it in business, politics, entertainment, sports or whatever. They must be provided with ardent invigoration and their spirits must be kept high to delete the term ‘impossible’ from the dictionary. Like sarojini naidu, Jhansi lakshmi bhai and Indira Gandhi who exemplified women empowerment with their deeds, let us expect many more epitomes of such personality traits.
With the process of industrialisation, globalisation and modernization showing its deep import on the human society all over the world, the role and responsibility of women has attained a new dimension. The educational and occupational patterns have also changed and widened with women entering the domains, which till decade back was considered to be dominated by men.Unless women throw off shackles which ignore their talent, their skill and their spirit, women cannot be empowered. And unless they are empowered to take a decisive part in the social political and economic life of the country, the very development of the country may be adversely affected.
